getty Celebrity fanfiction is often way too far-fetched to be true. However, One Direction fans are pointing to a new video they say proves Larry Stylinson fanfiction is based in reality.
For whatever reason, fans love turning celebrity friendships into something more. For example, there was a time TMZ convinced people that besties Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss kissed at a concert. Then there’s the palpable sexual tension between Castiel and Dean of Supernatural. And perhaps the most iconic fanfic couple of our time? Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, lovingly known by “Larries” and Larry Stylinson.
The Larry Stylinson conspiracy theory goes way back to the band’s inception. Since then, fans have consistently looked for hints that the two are more than just friends and bandmates — they’re also in love with each other.
Styles only added fuel to the fire when he kind of — it’s still up for debate — came out as bisexual while performing the song “Medicine,” whose lyrics reference messing around with both boys and girls.
Now, fans are looking to a recent video interview that they say proves Larry Stylinson is real.
In the video, the interviewer starts questioning singer Mabel about her relationship to Styles.
“You’ve actually toured with Harry Styles,” the interviewer says, and then looks over to X-Factor contestant Louise Setara who is also sitting in on the interview. She continues, “who is obviously with Louis Tomlinson who is one of the judges this year.”
Wait. What?!
What exactly does she mean by… “with?”
The way the interviewer so casually mentions Larry does sort of seem like their relationship is an open secret in Hollywood, one that makes Larries feel like they’ve been victims of Larry gaslighting this whole time.
After Mabel goes on to describe a time Styles pied her (which really probably no one is actually listening to or caring about at this point because we’re all style recovering from the possible Larry reveal), the interviewer drops yet another bomb.
“I was hoping that you know, when they go to obviously judges houses [on X-Factor] and we see Louis’ house, you always have a person, don’t you? They have a person with them,” the interviewer says, going on to suggest that naturally, Tomlinson would have Styles there with him.
If you’re a devout believer in gossip sites, the popular site Crazy Days & Nights seems to confirm the relationship as well. “This interviewer casually outed two foreign members of this now defunct A list boy band,” the site’s author, known only as Enty, wrote.
While we’re still waiting on word from Styles about this rumored relationship, Tomlinson has straight up denied it. “It created this atmosphere between the two of us where everyone was looking into everything we did,” Tomlinson told Mirror in 2017. “It took away the vibe you get off anyone. It made everything, I think on both fences, a little bit more unapproachable. I think it shows that it was never anything real, if I can use that word.”
As for their confirmed personal lives, Styles was most recently linked to Camila Rowe, though it’s reported they split in July 2018. Tomlinson has a son with Briana Jungworth and is now dating Eleanor Calder.
