Whether you recognize Adam Driver from Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel films, or, more recently, as Charlie Barber in Marriage Story, or, even as a doppelganger to that cat on the internet, you have to admit that he’s extremely talented. He studied at Juilliard, after all!

But behind every great actor is the woman who supports him, and that is none other than his wife. During the 77th Golden Globes on January 5th, 2020, Driver and his wife made an appearance on the red carpet. The couple attended the event because Driver was nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama) for his role in Marriage Story.

Though the award went to Joaquin Phoenix for his role in Joker, Driver looked pretty snazzy with his lady love on his arm.

So, who is Adam Driver's wife? She stays out of the spotlight, but here are a few things to know about Joanne Tucker and her relationship with her husband.

1. Who is Adam Driver's wife? He met Joanne Tucker at Juilliard.

After a mountain biking accident got him discharged from the Marine Corps, he auditioned for Juilliard and was accepted. While studying there, he met Tucker.

In an interview, Driver claimed that he was very intimidating, saying, “I made three people cry my first semester. I was used to a very aggressive way of talking to people. I would consider it having a discussion but I guess others didn’t see it that way! So I calmed down and found a way to communicate exactly what I was feeling.”

Luckily, once he met Tucker and she became his girlfriend, she helped him adjust to his new life out of the military.

“She taught me what Gouda cheese is... and that you shouldn’t talk with your mouth full and spit on the sidewalk. I told her about Rolling Stone and how it could be interesting and entertaining,” he said.

2. They’ve been together since before he was famous.

Though they eventually wed in 2013, the couple has been together since the early 2000s.

According to a source, “They've been dating forever, years, and live together; [they're] very comfortable and in love. She was with him before the Girls fame. They both love theater and the arts. She respects him so much. Everyone on the show is very happy for them.”

3. Who is Joanne Tucker? She's an actress.

Well, what would you expect from someone who graduated from Juilliard? She got her debut in film in 2010, starring in a short film called Loft. In 2011, she appeared in the indie film Gayby, which Driver was also in. She even made a cameo on Girls, playing Ruthie in a season 5 episode.

But it seems her real passion is on the live stage. She attended Dalton on the Upper East Side before attending Juilliard. In 2012, she performed in The Yellow Hour at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in the West Village.

During an interview with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, she described what she loves so much about her work and how it affects the audience saying, “That's the kind of art that I like. I think that's the point of art: to challenge and make people feel uncomfortable.”

4. Tucker and Driver run a non-profit organization.

While at Juilliard, Driver still had a connection to the military, leading him to found the Arts in the Armed Forces that produces “theatrical and musical performances for mixed military and civilian audiences.” Tucker is the Artistic Director for the organization.

5. They live in Brooklyn Heights.

It seems Driver is now well-adjusted to living in boroughs, eventually deciding to settle down in Brooklyn Heights. Before getting married, Driver revealed what it was like to live in New York.

“Me and my girlfriend have these conversations all the time. We’re kind of obsessed with HGTV, and we were watching House Hunters the other night and it’s like you can buy a palace for what a single room costs here,” he admitted.

For someone who lived in Indiana in his early life, it’s no wonder Manhattan is so expensive.

6. They have a dog.

The couple have a Rottweiler/pitbull mix, who apparently has a thing for eating tennis balls rather than fetching them. “And we can afford to get them out now,” Driver joked about his new financial stability.

7. Driver and Tucker kept the birth of their first child a secret.

In an exposé from October 2019, it was revealed that the couple had secretly been parents for over two years. Referring to keeping the secret as a "military operation," he explained, “My job is to be a spy — to be in public and live life and have experience. But, when you feel like you’re the focus, it’s really hard to do that.”

According to the piece, "Last fall, after Tucker’s sister, who was launching a peacoat business, accidentally made her Instagram account public and someone noticed the back of his son’s head in one picture, the news wound up on Page Six."
