JWoww: I Hate Being Pregnant But I Can't Wait To Meet My Daughter
'Jersey Shore' alum Jenni 'Jwoww' Farley has a new reality show and a new baby on the way!
Jenni Farley, best known by Jersey Shore lovers as the well-tanned JWoww, and her fiance Roger Mathews are expecting their first child, a little girl.
The twosome also participated in the new reality star-themed edition of Marriage Boot Camp, which began filming right after they found out Jenni had a bun in the oven. Forget the GTL — gym, tan, laundry — life. This was a serious show for a couple entering the next phase of life and adulthood.
It certainly isn't easy to take a long, hard look at your relationship, surrounded by other reality TV personalities and cameras, with the whole world watching. Add a pregnancy, with its new set of emotions and hormones, and you're looking at a possible powder keg. But JWoww handled the situation with humor and grace.
YourTango spoke to the Jersey Shore alum about how she and Mathews used humor to survive the show, the impending birth of her daughter, and what she and Snooki, her BFF who is also preggers with a girl, have in store for their future bundles of joy.
YourTango: From what I saw of the show, I loved how you and Roger used humor to navigate some of the drama and nonsense!
Jenni 'Jwoww' Farley: Roger deals with anything with humor. That is why I love him so much. He chews it up and spits it back out. Through him, I learned to be the same way. We're honest. He'll be straight up honest, but he will make it fun. You develop thick skin. You go into a show with that setting, you will have a nervous breakdown if you don't try and laugh.
YourTango: We know that the show is edited and now airing, so without spoiling the ending, how did the show help you and Roger? What did you take away from the experience?
Jenni 'Jwoww' Farley: It definitely helped. It is a crazy show, with a lot of strong and opinionated people living in the house. But the show and context behind it is great. We've used the tools [they gave us] to help. We're so into the pregnancy right now.
YourTango: Did you learn anything of significance from other couples in the house?
Jenni 'Jwoww' Farley: You form opinions. I don't know if I took anything away, but I love them so much. I have so much more respect and love for all of them. I talk to Gretchen [Rossi] all the time. I love Traci [Braxton], who would sing me to sleep. I never expected to have lifelong friends from this crazy show.
YourTango: Was doing the show doubly hard, with you being prego and all? Because we all know NOW that you are pregnant, but I wasn't quite sure of the timing with the show.
Jenni 'Jwoww' Farley: We were trying to deal with it and not tell anyone. The week we left to go film the show was the week we found out we were pregnant. I was super nauseous, very tired, very cranky, and it was a little crazy. You will see it on the show. I am not my usual self. I was way more crazy on the show because of the hormones.
YourTango: How did the castmates find out you were pregnant?
Jenni 'Jwoww' Farley: They realized it when I wouldn't drink and I wouldn't go in the hot tub. Everyone caught on from the stuff I wasn't doing. I wasn't drinking champagne. I was like, 'I can't go in the hot tub for six weeks because of medication.' I kept saying that I had a 'medical condition' that does not allow me to drink, go in a Jacuzzi, and makes me pass out at 9pm every night. Everyone is like, 'What?'
YourTango: Your daughter will be here soon. Have you chosen a name?
Jenni 'Jwoww' Farley: We have a top three! One Roger loves, one I love, and one we both love.
YourTango: Sounds like the one you both love is the way to go. Your BFF Snooki is having a girl. You are having a girl. Is that a recipe for instant BFFs?
Jenni 'Jwoww' Farley: OMG, they better be! I don't think they will be BFFs. They will be almost like cousins. We want to raise them where they know they are family and that they are sisters. They will always be there for each other, like a mirror of mine and Nicole's relationship.
YourTango: How are you feeling during the home stretch of the pregnancy?
Jenni 'Jwoww' Farley: I wish she was out today. I hate being pregnant but I can't wait to meet my daughter!
YourTango: I bet, especially since you have the hottest months of the year coming up.
Jenni 'Jwoww' Farley: Thanks for reminding me of the heat.
