Not to trash on the holidays, but the music just has to stop.

I know that the holiday season has officially kicked off when I hear Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas" over the sound system in the mall and sure, I'll admit that it's fun to sing along to the lyrics while I’m stuck in line on Black Friday, deliriously racking up my credit card debt at two in the morning. But as the days count down to Christmas, I start to roll my eyes when I hear the same reel of holiday tracks.

And it’s not just Mariah Carey. It’s all of those holiday songs that we’re bombarded with during the holidays from car radios to TV commercials. And I know I’m not alone in thinking the song "Baby, It's Cold Outside" is creepier than it is romantic. A real date where someone says, 'Say, what’s in this drink?' never ends well.

I’m sick of Mariah, I’m sick of Elvis, and please make the stupid Adam Sandler Hanukkah song stop. Heck, even Bing is getting on my nerves by now. So if you’re in a Grinchy kind of mood like me, here’s a playlist of romantic tunes to put you and your significant other back in the holiday spirit (and won't want to make you hurl your eggnog).

"Christmas Lights" by Coldplay

Imagine wandering the snowswept city streets, admiring the windows of department stores dressed in garlands and poinsettias, and the twinkly lights around Christmastime. The holiday season is the perfect time for romance isn’t it? The simple, sentimental pink of piano keys will pluck at your heartstrings — and make you hold your significant other a little tighter.

"Christmas in the Sand" by Colbie Caillat

Just because it may be warm and sunny where you live, doesn’t mean that you can’t have a white Christmas too. Colbie's sweet, soothing vocals make these otherwise seemingly silly lyrics, cute and likable.

"I'll be Home for Christmas" by Michael Buble

There’s something about Michael Buble’s voice that just makes my heart melt. Listening to this piano version of Bing Crosby's heartfelt holiday classic makes you want to cozy up by the fire with a loved one. Just heat up hot cocoa for two.

"Baby It’s Cold Outside" by Haley Reinhardt & Casey Abrams

Ok, so I’ve already admitted that the lyrics in this song are a little sketchy at best, but this jazzy duet between Haley Reinhardt and Casey Abrams makes up for it.

"The Christmas Waltz" by She & Him

Zooey Deschanel's hushed crooning and M. Ward's guitar are a match made in musical heaven. And while they make a decent duo performing Christmas music on their holiday album, this song is perfect for slow dancing cheek to cheek.

"Christmas Day" by Dido

Love stories and romance are the stuff of holiday songs, but this little-known gem by Dido stands out from the typical renditions of the classics.

"Let's Make Christmas Merry, Baby" by Amos Milburn

Amos croons, 'let me be your Santa Claus,' singing that he'd 'slide down your chimney and fill your stocking full of toys.' Who knew the holidays could be so sexy?

Did we forget any? Which songs would you add to our playlist?
