Lauren Graham Says Loving Peter Krause Is Easy

Lauren Graham and Peter Krause

While we won't deny that it's entertaining to report on the antics of famewhoring couples or to reveal who's cheating on whom in Hollywood, it's always refreshing to hear about a genuinely happy celeb couple content to keep their love life out of the spotlight. One such pair is Lauren Graham and Peter Krause, co-stars of NBC's hit series, Parenthood.

Although they play brother and sister on the show, off-screen, Lauren and Peter share a love connection that first sparked over a decade ago. In the October issue of Redbook, cover girl Lauren dishes on her and Peter's first failed attempt at romance and what makes their relationship work now.

On her first date with Peter, 15 years ago: "I think we liked each other [but] he asked me over to his house to play a board game–and that’s exactly what we ended up doing. So I was like, 'This guy doesn't like me. Who actually plays a board game?'…The timing wasn't right. I don't think either of us was ready...He's obviously a very confident, appealing guy, but he's shy, and so am I."

On having a showmance: "Nobody knew about [the relationship] for awhile, because we like to be at home, cooking and not going out. I've also been really protective of it, because it's important that you can buy us as brother and sister on the show...One of the things that's been so fun is that it's so easy. It's a lot, to work with somebody and spend time with them, too."

On her future with Peter: "I would like to be part of a family, however that looks. Family is really important to me."

At 43, Lauren has no children of her own, but Peter has a nine-year-old son from a past relationship. It seems pretty clear from her last statement that Lauren isn't shying away from the possibility of playing stepmom, or anything that might come her and Peter's way in the future.

Don't you just want to hug these two, or at least sit down and have a beer with them? They're adorable! We hope Lauren and Peter are still going strong long after their show has left the air.
